Lady Buffs Cross Country Finish Regular Season on a High Note.

The Republic County High School Girl’s Cross Country team is doing really well this season. They have placed at almost every meet they’ve gone to. Ellie Callaway is leading the team this season. Yesterday at League, Ellie got 3rd in the meet and first in the league. She is the NCAA League champion.

At Ellsworth 2 weeks ago Ellie won the race. Dakota Peters was close behind Ellie, coming in at fourth place. Kadence Henke was up there as well and came in 21st place. Schola Baxa, Ally Bombardier, and Kylie Stone also did well, finishing 42nd, 43rd, and 44th respectively. Altogether, the team came in 4th place, which is really impressive considering the competition and the difficult course at Ellsworth.

Two weeks before the success at Ellsworth, here at the home meet, the Girls’ team won the meet. The girls are proving their potential through their success. The girls are getting ready for the Regionals Meet at an unannounced location, next Saturday, where they have a lot of potential to do well, and then State is on the following Saturday. Last year, Ellie was the only one from the team to go to the big race at State, but this year, more of them will hopefully go.

Here is a brief interview with Republic County Cross Country Coach Anthony Nunez.
