Ms. Jenny Kling joins RC Faculty as the new Band and Vocal Teacher

Jenny Kling, a Republic County alumni, and our new band and vocal teacher, has an extensive musical background and a strong enthusiasm for music education. Ms. Kling is ready to inspire and guide the aspiring musicians and vocalists of Republic County High School.

Ms. Kling was greatly influenced by her middle, and high school band teacher. Carol Dean, and Carroll Couture. Through their examples, Music became very important to her, and when I asked her why music was important she said that: “Music is very unique in the fact that it is a way for people to express themselves. I think it has amazing power within our brains. It is scientifically proven that it is one of the only activities that activates, stimulates, and uses the entire brain. Music has such a powerful impact on each of us that it can trigger memories, be mood-altering and it is literally the soundtrack of our lives.”

Though music has always interested her, originally, when she went to college, it was to be a trauma nurse in a flight unit. Luckily for us, she changed her major. In her spare time she is also the lead singer and keyboardist of Rockin’ Redemption. A 70's and 80's rock band that also performs some country music. In her travels she has been throughout the United States performing, as well as toured in Sweden, Finland and Russia. She once studied voice with world-renowned opera singer, Rebecca Copley. Ms. Kling also sang the lead role in Swedish composer Eskil Hemberg's opera, "St. Erik's Crown". She has been able to share the stage with many famous bands and artists such as Saving Abel, Buckcherry, Jackyl, Neal McCoy and David Allan Coe, to name a few. Ms Kling’s greatest motivator is her family. When I asked Ms. Kling what her favorite instrument was she said that: “My favorite instrument is piano, but I don't play it that well! I also love saxophones. I have played soprano, alto, tenor and baritone for 31 years.”

Our new Music Instructor has big plans for the Republic County Music Program. She wants to build a solid music program with a solid foundation that benefits all students. She also wants to help build recognition and relationships for what we do in our school and community. In her own words “I want the marching band to get back on a schedule of marching in large parades throughout the U.S. and I would like the smaller select ensembles to start performing throughout our communities again.

Already some of these plans are being put into effect, and things are looking good for the Republic County Band and Vocal Programs. As the year unfolds, Ms. Jenny Kling's presence is sure to make a powerful impact on our music program, our school, and our community. Thank you.
