Republic County Volleyball Ushers in New Era

The tension in the air between the two teams, the music vibrating the gym while the girls warm up. The chanting of the student section while the set begins. Everyone quiets, while the first serve floats in the air. The 2024-25 Republic County Volleyball Season begins with new hope and a new vision for success moving forward. The Lady Buffaloes are shepherded by a new coach this season, Mrs. Sarah Heeger. Coach Heeger comes to the Buffaloes with 5 years of coaching experience. She also has sports playing experience at the High School and Collegiate Levels, playing at Neosho County Community College. Coach Heeger has already made the goal of winning 3 league games, which hasn’t been done for 2 years. A few other goals she has is winning The Rock Hills and Wakefield tournaments. There are currently 20 girls on the team and Heeger says that she manages playing time by playing who’s going to help her win.

Avery Stindt is the only Senior. She’s been playing volleyball for 9 years. Avery also said that the team's energy is outstanding and a huge jump in improvement from past years. She sees a new hope in the team and thinks it will be a new beginning for the Buffaloes Volleyball team.

The Jamboree was a great kickstart for the Lady Buffaloes with them being able to take a set from Clifton-Clyde, which got 3rd at 1A State during their 2023 season. Typically each team has a total of 10 girls since only 6 can be at the court at a time. Which will lead to a full Varsity, JV, and C team this year. Republic County made great progress with their first home game against Ellsworth the Student Section was electric while the girls played hard and kept up a resilient fight. With their next game being September 12th at 5:00 pm in Herington.
